Background​

​

Nusource is a home services platform offering fixed quotes for the installation and repair of essential utilities, including boilers, air conditioners, and car chargers. The founders aimed to create a brand and digital platform that would differentiate itself in the home services market by prioritising trust, transparency, and ease of use. They approached me to develop the brand identity and design user-friendly, high-converting web journeys that would position Nusource as a reliable and efficient service provider. The project scope focused on optimising key user journeys to create an MVP for live testing and securing investment.

Case Study: Designing brand and user interfaces that remove hassle from home services installation ​

 

Challenge

​

The home services market is crowded with platforms offering various degrees of service and pricing transparency. Many existing platforms lacked visual appeal and clear communication, making it difficult for users to trust their services. The challenge was to design a brand and platform that addressed these pain points while ensuring a seamless user experience.

Research & Discovery

  • Conducted competitive analysis of platforms like Heatable and others in the sector.

  • Identified key gaps in the market, such as a lack of friendly and approachable branding and inconsistent pricing transparency.

  • Conducted interviews with the Nusource founders to understand their vision, goals, and target audience.

 

Brand Development

  • Created a moodboard based on the client’s preferences and insights gathered during interviews.

  • Designed multiple branding concepts, exploring color palettes, typography, and logo options.

  • Refined the chosen concept to reflect Nusource’s core values: reliability, efficiency, and transparency.

 

Website Design

  • Designed the website’s information architecture to ensure easy navigation and clear presentation of services.

  • Focused on creating a seamless flow from browsing to obtaining a fixed quote.

  • Crafted engaging copy and visuals to communicate trustworthiness and professionalism.

  • Integrated calls to action to drive user engagement, such as "Get Your Fixed Quote Now."

 

Positioning

  • Positioned Nusource as a friendly, efficient, and transparent provider of home services.

  • Differentiated the platform by emphasizing fixed quotes with no hidden fees and high-quality service providers.

Outcome

​

While the Nusource platform is still under development, the branding and website design have laid a strong foundation for its launch. The branding captures the company’s core values and establishes a professional yet approachable identity. The user-focused website design ensures that customers can quickly and easily find the information they need, building trust and encouraging conversions. Planned A/B testing and user research will further refine the MVP, ensuring it meets user needs and delivers optimal performance.

I collaborated closely with the founders of Nusource, a startup, to bring their brand vision to life. Through in-depth interviews, I gained insights into their preferences and values, which informed the creation of an initial moodboard. Building on this foundation, I developed several branding concepts, each with distinct color palettes, enabling productive discussions and iterative refinement to achieve the final brand identity.
